Bruce Sanderson

Bruce Sanderson joined Wine Spectator in 1993 as tasting coordinator and was promoted to tasting director in 1995. In 1999, he became a senior editor.

Born in Canada, he studied urban geography at the University of Waterloo, then earned a master’s degree from Queen’s University. Sanderson’s career as a model and actor sent him to Germany, where he first became passionate about wine. He entered the wine industry after moving to New York in 1990, gaining experience at specialty retailer Burgundy Wine Company and working as sommelier at Windows on the World.

Sanderson’s tasting responsibilities include the wines of Burgundy, Piedmont and Tuscany. His feature articles document the people and places behind the wines in those regions.

When not visiting wine regions for Wine Spectator, he enjoys listening to jazz, both live and recorded, along with other musical genres, cooking and dining out in New York and escaping to the Jersey shore.
