Omar was crowned the Best Sommelier of Mexico in 2011 and again in 2013. In the same year, he competed in the Best Sommelier of the World competition, securing the 23rd place out of around 60 candidates. He made his way to France in 2016 to pursue a master’s degree in wine economics. With his diploma in hand, he worked as a sommelier at the restaurant Le 7 in the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux. Today, he holds the position of Education & Hospitality Manager for Barton & Guestier, and he was recently named the Best Sommelier of Bordeaux Wines 2023.
